I'm an aussie filmmaker - director of "Liberty in Restraint - behind the eyes of a fetish photographer". I'm visiting San Fran Nov 15 to 20 and hope to do a screening of my film. Check out the website - http://www.libertyinrestraint.com

I'm wondering if someone in this group may be able to facilitate a screening somewhere? I am not well networked in SF and don't even know of any screening venues... but this film is very suitable to any group looking to expand its boundaries in terms of viewing alternative sexuality. And as SF is the home of Folsom St Fair and many other good things... i believe there will be some interest! Winner at CineKink New York.
PERIOD" ON USELESS STUFF, ME TOO. SO I THOUGHT, WHAT THE HECK, I'M GOING TO TRY ONE OF THESE "SCAMS". NOW TO MY AMAZEMENT, I AM CHUCKLING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK WEEK AFTER WEEK WITH My PILES OF 1$ BILLS. I AM HAVING FUN AT THE SAME TIME AND WISHING THAT I WOULD HAVE DONE THIS SOONER! THIS IS LONG, SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ IT ALL NOW, JUST "COPY AND PASTE", IT IS
SOOO WORTH IT! DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, JUST TRY IT!
How to turn $6 into $6,000!
READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE! SO JUST DO IT! This really works!
Hello, I’m like a lot of others out there who have
financial woes and I decided to try something new. If it works for me then I will be able to get myself out of a very difficult financial situation. Please read and see what results another got, it's pretty exciting!
It REALLY CAN MAKE YOU EASY MONEY!! IT WORKS!!!
BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT TO THE LETTER FOR IT TO WORK!!!!
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with
only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought,
"Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands)
No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right?" Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!... Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works.... Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something
so easy!
Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully!
(Print it out or download it.)
Follow the simple directions and watch the money
come in! It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage)
IMPORTANT: This is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its success by carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the Mail Order business.
In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. however, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income, which is made from people like you and me asking to
be included in that list.
Here are the 3 easy steps to success:
STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper
"PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST."
Now get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying
for it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:
#1) D.Blakeman 7400 Glenleaf #179 Shreveport, LA 71129
#2) J.maxey 355 N. Manilla, Fresno, CA. 93727
#3) C. Lyons P.O. Box 69645 Los Angeles, CA. 90069-0645
#4) RJ K. Murpay 850 E. Walnut #173 Grapevine, Tx 76051
#5) Candice Messinger 5216 Old Powell rd. Holly Springs, NC 27540
#6) Tim DeMeerleer 105 N. Main st.Rear Kennett, MO 63857
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc.) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list.
STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups)All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at
it this way. If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way.
NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service.
(Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.)
So, as each post is downloaded and the directions
carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your
name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above)
Send it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!
---DIRECTIONS -----
FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS
Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer’s memory.

Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can
add your name to the list.
Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you'll always have this file to go back to.
Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.)
Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the
header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You're done with your first one!
Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
**REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200**
That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT. **
HOW IT WORKS:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example).
So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the
latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are
joining the Internet and reading these articles everyday? JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when
there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the Internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work. God bless you!

We began a documentary in Paris and Turkey last year, and now as it gets warmer in Turkey we are going to complete it. We have a US distributor, and everyone involved will share in profits. It could be quite profitable for you and a real life changer. We are in pre-production of three others...one on black jazz in Paris after WWII until now. We have a Turkish captain/crew/cook on our 70' Gulet, 6 double staterooms still available, all with their own head (toilet and shower). Qualifications? Simply to be able to get along with people. Age? Our producer is 60, our editor is 25. Age inmaterial if you are young in spirit. If you have video experience (HD MiniDV PAL and Final Cut Pro, writing) all the better, but we are doing this to perhaps expand the focus of our documentary which is based on the mystical aspects of Alexander the Great - Title: Force of Evidence. Creative people get free reign as long as they don't sink the ship or the project. We are interested to add some human interest...profound, provocative, funny...to the program, so film making experience in not a requirement. Come for a week or two months. Email me for details.

Attention everyone. I am an Oakland filmmaker and I want to announce the premier of my first feature length film, "Stoner's Run" at the historic Parkway Theater. Please mark you calendars and support you local filmmakers.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th 9:15pm
Parkway Theater
1834 Park Blvd.
Oakland, CA 94606
Admission: $3

Come to the screening and meet the cast and crew of this no-budget indie film. And if you had the fortune or misfortune to work on this film, come see the fruits of our labor. Stoner's Run is what indie filmmaking is all about. No money, just vision, heart and commitment.

"Stoner's Run" is about a modern day stoner who has it all. But while partying with his friends one weekend, it all comes crashing down. While trying to score some weed, Bradley and his friends set off for some good times, adventure, and of course, weed. Little do they know that they have caught the attention of narcoticsofficers who are hungry for a bust. This little adventure will turn into a journey of epic insignificance and we learn that the good times aren’t always so good.
It must have been a parody of western movies. This is what I remember from the end of it:

There is a campfire and on it there is a coffee pot boiling. Then a blond man arrives, he is blond like albino..reminded me of Johnny Winter. He wears all black and has a long blond hair. He takes the coffee pot and drinks coffee straight from it. Then he get's shot in the belly, there is a huge round hole in it and he still stays on his feet. The movie ends showing him standing and the silhouette of the city showing thru the hole.

I never knew who the audience was for "The Harder They Come" (1972) - one of my all-time favorite movies that is featured in the documentary. In fact, the first version of "The Harder They Come" that I purchased had a case with a "Midnite Movies" logo on it - I thought that it had been a randomly chosen phrase. I guess I never realized that the VHS put most movie theatres out of business.

I think it's great for film buffs (as the characters play 'name this line' the whole time) and I think the exploration of separation, intimacy, love, etc...really really good. AND thought it was sexy and was not scheeved at all by any incest. I thought it was great.

Hey Kids-

This is the first low key announcement as many details are still up in the air.
Just want to do a sweep and see whos interested in whats coming up and than hammer out details over the next few weeks.
In question are the opening dates, from 1-3 months from today.

The space has a working title of "the complex"... because it is.
We are a series of small warehouse spaces connected by a large undeveloped dirt lot that I have been slowly absorbing over the past year.
I have recently assumed the sole lease on the "gem" property, a 4500sqft warehouse with tall ceilings in the main performance and work area.
We are located near 5th and Folsom with extremely easy access to everything and the east bay.

It has three movie theaters, a tiki bar, a wolf range gas stove, parking and shared work / performance area with 24' ceilings.
Connected to it are 8000sqf of small business and artists studios and 10,000sqft of undeveloped lot.
Current co-tenants are an office for our non-profit 510c3: Arena Interplay
Kiosk and digital signage business rental and service workshop: Friendlyway Inc
Myself, and I have a small performance/ rehearsal space upstairs connected to my room.
A Small graphics/effects studio, still in development, with blue screen.

A plan for the usage is creating a digital video production facility for projects and would like the tenants to participate in the growth of this or something completely different they have to bring to the table.
The potential tenant must be a DIY'er as the space is still somewhat raw (although I appreciate it that way) and we are responsible for any upkeep of the builiding. No help from the building owner.
There is NO LEGAL LIVE within the buildings, commercial LEASE only.
So no residential rights can be extended to this scenario, still the lease is fair as long as we pay the rent and dont cause any trouble for the building owner with other neighbors or the city. This is why its important for the potential tenant to have a business license, they're easy to get and I can help you if you dont allready. I'm assuming you catch my drift and we can discuss details in a one on one.

I am seeking two tenants for sizeable upstairs studios.
We each should be self sufficient but definately am looking to build a collaborative community out of this project.
The rents are $750-$800 each/month- + $50 for the first parking space, $75 for any additional parking.
+ Utiitlies which average around $75+ for gas/electric/garbage/internet
+ Business Insurance (about $250 year shared).
Deposit I have to pay is twice rent, we can negotiate a payment plan for the deposit but it should total $1500.
If building owner increases rent, than individual rent would be affected. SO far 3 years without increase.

If you cant pay your rent and cant deal with having occasional public activities and clients in the space than please dont apply.
As the leaseholder I am responsible for the actions of the tenants and have just completed taking over the lease to proactively solve these problems.
Full disclosure and communication being key for positive development.

I personally have a history with group art spaces dating from being a co-founder of cellspace in 96, an early developer of monkey fresh in 2002, Front Room Gallery in New York in 98 and the Farenheit in Kansas City in 2000.
The long term goal is to purchase a building that can support our activities and create a business plan based on our current model to achieve those ends.
I am a bay area native and am 36. Have a background and degree in film and video, and am currently the DOO for friendlyway inc and am in charge of the companies operations out of the warehouse. I am in league with several other developments like this one and plan to incorporate speakeasy cinema (the current venue title) as a supporting agent to help this type of growth.
I've priced the rooms to be affordable but you still have to have your shit together to make it work.
I am interested in starting this process today so I can find the best matches for our space and get them on board as soon as identified.

If you have a ton of storage needs you should consider an off site location or purchase a shipping container to put into our yard.

Please send queries or interests/ideas bad jokes to:
skot kuiper
skot@videoamp.org

thanks and feel free to distribute this to interested parties.

except this time we're asking you to resurrect this long-lost artform for our own purposes:

Issue 02 of Volunteers Magazine is going to explore the concept of duality and all its facets and consequences, i.e. the conflict of authenticity, the loss of self, etc.

other words we've been thinking about in conjunction with duality are: binary, dichotomy, tandem, diptych, and geminate, which we list in hope of sparking some additional thoughts and directions for your shoebox masterpieces.

duality pervades all aspects of life and existence, and we're interested in how this concept affects you. we're titling the issue "Gouzenko" after Igor Gouzenko, an agent for the USSR working in Canada. he defected from the USSR and exposed the systematic infiltration of soviet spies into other countries' governments as well as Stalin's plans to steal nuclear secrets.

his actions effectively began the cold war. with his own loss of identity (to protect himself and his family from soviets reprisals), his actions changed history. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Gouzenko)

impressed with this story, we thought it applicable to our own quest to better understand how duality affects our daily lives, both in grand and miniscule ways.

we ask that you construct a diorama, in a shoebox, photograph it against a white background (well-lit please), and send it to us at submissions@volunteersmag.com by september 1st. make sure to send a couple of images (different angles are welcome).

contributions are unpaid, but this should be an exciting (and fun) project to do. we hope you participate and look forward to your creations! surprise us, and dont forget to think outside the box. (sorry -- bad, bad joke.)

For more information contact: pete@galaxie-pictures.com

SYNOPSIS:

Teenage Sherri, a new arrival to Lake Charles, Louisiana, gets a rude awakening as the locals give her a slice of real Southern hospitality, small town style. Included in her Lake Charles initiation are some hard lessons on friendship, family, and bigotry—not the kind made of ephemeral remarks and incidental ostracizing of outsiders, but real and vicious institutional racism, the kind that ends in murder.

Sherri arrives as the locals prepare for the funeral of Mary, the town’s Contraband Days Celebration Queen. With her death begins the shattering of the perfect picture of southern hospitality that she represents. Grieving is glossed over in favor of panic about the town’s quickly evaporating marijuana supply. What’s really died is the smiling welcoming south, and its warmth and hospitality are quickly replaced by a rapid growth of weeds.

Then the ensemble cast of Unfiltered gradually unwinds into a hard picture of gritty southern life as facades of tolerance gradually peel / crumble away. What’s revealed is the stuff that’s usually swept under the carpet.

We are a quarterly periodical devoting each issue to the exploration of a broad theme. Much like curating an art show, the work in each issue will loosely correlate with the chosen topic. The first issue's theme is evolution. We believe this is an appropriate premiere topic because we intend Volunteers to be an evolution of the magazine in its online format.
We are currently accepting submissions for issue 02, the theme for which will be duality (with a focus on the binary aspects of life).

Just started reading and highly recommend "The Ghastly One: The Sex-Gore Netherworld of filmmaker Andy Milligan", by Jimmy McDonough (2002)-- my favorite film bio since Rudolf Grey's "Nightmare of Ecstasy". Like Wood, Milligan's creations were made on ultra-low budgets in a mad dash--scenery and costumes falling apart during filming-- with a cavalier disregard for continuity goofs, sound problems, etc. Milligan's background, though, was in the way off-Broadway avant-garde theater world of downtown Manhattan, as a central figure in the ground breaking Cafe Cino and La Mama scenes. Just for the descriptions of this forgotten era's out-there characters, this is a good read. Before you know it though, you are hanging with the creeps and thieves of the exploitation film racket. So many great interviews (I think McDonough worked on this thing for over ten years) and lots are long gone, so I’m grateful he took his time and did it right.

Long-Lost Final Film by Ed Wood Rediscovered
Wed Oct 27, 9:32 AM ET Movies - Reuters

By Claudia Parsons

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Considered the worst film maker of all time, Ed Wood won a cult following after his death and now fans can see his long-lost last film "Necromania," a work some say shows he was so bad that he was brilliant.

But it's not for the faint-hearted. The 1971 movie is a porn film documenting the sexual enlightenment of a young couple at the hands of a coven of witches.

The much maligned creator of enduring cult classics such as "Bride of the Monster," Wood was himself the subject of Tim Burton's 1994 biopic, the lead role played by Johnny Depp.

That film shows the making of Wood's most famous film -- "Plan 9 From Outer Space" from 1956 -- in which actors screw up their lines and "special effects" include pie tins for flying saucers.

"Necromania" -- the last film Wood directed -- was filmed over two or three days with a budget of no more than $7,000 and the only copies went missing soon after it was made. The movie tells the story of Danny and Shirley, a young couple who visit the mysterious Madame Heles for help with their flagging sex life. The lessons they are taught involve skulls, spells and sex in a coffin.

Rudolph Grey, author of a biography of the director, and a fellow Ed Wood enthusiast, movie distributor Alexander Kogan, unearthed "Necromania" in a warehouse in Los Angeles after more than 15 years of detective work.

A year ago they contacted the editors of a pornography Web site called Fleshbot, which this week will start selling the DVD by mail order for $19.99.

"I knew of its existence since about 1982 and it intrigued me because it was supposedly one of the last feature movies that Ed Wood did, so naturally I wanted to see it," said Grey.

At one point Grey and Kogan were frustrated to be told the only person who might know the film's whereabouts was in jail -- as a result of a porn bust in Florida.

They waited until he got out and resumed the search, striking gold in 2001.

PURE GENIUS?

"This is something more than just porn," said Fredrik Carlstrom, executive producer of the DVD featuring two versions of the film, one soft core, the other more explicit.

"This is an old film. It's in the '70s, they're hairy, they don't look the way we are used to now," Carlstrom said.

"It has a story, it has ambition ... It's like all his films, like anything that's so bad it becomes good. Or maybe it's pure genius. That's the appeal of Ed Wood."

Struggling to find backers for more mainstream work, Wood turned to smut in the 1960s, making a string of films and "loops" -- short porn flicks shown in coin-operated booths -- up until his death in 1978.

Grey, author of the biography "Nightmare of Ecstasy," said those who dismiss him as naive and talentless are plain wrong.

"These movies seem to exist in another plain of existence where nobody pays any attention to them whatsoever, and that must have been frustrating to Ed Wood," Grey said.

He says "Necromania" displays Wood's wit and style and he points to a scene where the main character Danny is struggling to untangle a pair of red pajama bottoms to put them on.

"The guy's fumbling for about 15 seconds and he's starting to laugh -- the actor, he can't get the pajama bottoms on and he's laughing," Grey says. "He could have cut that out but Ed Wood left that in intentionally. He was having some fun."
A dog's thoughts at dinner time are finally revealed.
Cast and Crew:

Man...........................George Caleodis

Woman.........................Holly Magnani

Story by.....................George Caleodis

Director of Photography......Miguel Baldoni Olivencia

BIOS:

George Caleodis - George spent over one year on the main stage of Second City Cleveland and attended the Second City Conservatory of comedy in Cleveland, Ohio. George has performed stand-up comedy, improvisational comedy, and has appeared in over thirty short films, movies, commercials, and voice-overs. George is currently the creative director of Out of Our Heads Improv, Columbus, Ohio's premiere improv comedy troupe.

Holly Magnani - Holly got started in the indie movie scene because someone said that she couldn't do it. Not to be double dog dared, she jumped in with both feet. Holly has perfomed in seven or so short films in two years including several Sonnyboo Productions. Having a photography background, she decided to move to the other side of the camera and a new passion was born.

Miguel Baldoni-Olivencia - Miguel's eye through the camera cannot be beat. Whether it's DV or 16mm, Miguel creates exactly what the director wants and does so beautifully with whatever is available. The epitome of the indie movie maker, Miguel's ideas are never ending and his images are wonderful. Miguel is also an improv comedy veteran, a member of Out Of Our Heads Improv, and a helluva guy.

Jenna Magnani - Jenna is a seven year old German Shepherd dog that was abruptly abandoned by her first family. Holly was the unsuspecting new owner. For four years Jenna has been constantly trying to outwit Holly and has succeeded only once. Jenna is a mild mannered dog with tons of personality that appears to come through in her debut performance. Not one of Jenna's action in the film was coerced, except sitting. She kept lying down and going out of frame so she had to be told to sit. Never a diva, Jenna's performance was completely natural. She did eventually get some chicken.
---------------------------

Warmest Regards,
